Newquay Beaches

Whilst in Newquay you can spend 11 days and never be on the same beach twice. Its 7 miles of beaches provide the perfect base for a short break or holiday with friends or family. Take it easy and relax on the soft, golden sands, or maybe take a moment to explore the secret caves and secluded coves all along our spectacular North Cornish coastline.

Hotel Sunnyside is positioned overlooking Towan beach, taking it’s name from the proximity to the town. Towan is a safe and sheltered beach, where the sea retreats at low tide, along with the neighbouring beaches of Great Western and Tolcarne, to maroon the famous island to create a mile-long sea of sand. Towan, Great Western, and Tolcarne are perfect for those looking for a chilled afternoon’s sunbathing without venturing too far from the town’s shops and facilities!

Fistral

Fistral is Newquay’s most famous and largest beach, quite simply one of the most consistent and best surfing beaches in the UK and Europe. Home to the Relentless Boardmasters, Europe’s largest surf, skate and music festival, its wild waters perfect for a variety of water based sports. Fistral is a short walk around the headland from Newquay town centre. Fistral also offers a small selection of bars and surf shops- everything you need for a whole day on the beach!

Watergate Bay

A short bus ride out of the town centre will take you to Crantock to the south and Watergate to the north. Both beaches offer a more un-spoilt appearance and a great option for families. Crantock stands out as perhaps the most beautiful beach in Cornwall and certainly worth the short journey.
