The one we are going to highlight here is Towan beach in Newquay. Towan beach is one of the most popular beaches in the town, and a lot of this is down to the location. Towan beach is literally a stone’s throw from the centre of Newquay town, meaning that you can have a walk through town, and pop down to the beach at any time. Conversely, if you are on the beach, but you fancy something from Towan, it is so easy to wander off the beach and into town within minutes of being in the sea!
Of course, location isn’t enough to make a beach a good beach, but Towan also boasts some of the nicest sand in the area. It tends to be firm and fine, and when you head to the top of the beach away from the water, it is very soft. This means that it is great for sand castles where the sea has swept up it, but if you want to feel soft fine sand between your toes, then you can get that too.
Another advantage to Towan beach is that the surf tends to be slightly less large in comparison to Fistral beach. This might sound like a negative, but when you consider that a large proportion of visitors to Newquay are novice surfers, it is far better to start off your surfing career in safer more manageable waters. If you do fancy surf lessons in Newquay then you will find that Towan beach is the one to go for.
Just above Towan beach you will find the fantastic Sunnyside Hotel. The Sunnyside is a great place to stay if you are a young group, and if you are interested in learning to surf on Towan beach, you will find that Sunnyside has teamed up with a great surfing school to offer you discounted lessons if you stay at the hotel! If you are looking for a stag weekend in Newquay then staying at the Sunnyside might be the perfect place for you, and having the option of cheap surfing lessons can be a great thing to do for the stag. Obviously because you are in Newquay, you will find plenty of great things to do in the evening, with a wealth of fantastic pubs and clubs to appreciate. After a big night out though, there’s nothing better than a relaxing day on the beach, and when it comes to relaxing in the sun, Towan beach is hard to beat!
